MY SISTAHS!! I need help With A Price Range For A Hairstyle, HELP ME OUT!!!?

oKAY, I Wanna get my hair done at an african american braiding salon somewhere and i need u guys to help me with a price estimate. Okay so what i want done is my hair braided up the front (with a side zigzag part) and braided up the back in cornrows, and then it goes into a bun in the middle of the hair, but the bun is not braided, its an unbraided curly/wavy ponytail.

oh, and i want them to start off with my real hair and then add the weave little by little so the roots look real (without the knot, i seen my friend's hair like that). How much do u think this would cost!

Thanx a lot

MY SISTAHS!! I need help With A Price Range For A Hairstyle, HELP ME OUT!!!?

It would cost somewhere around $70 dollars based on what you've told me if you go to a basic salon. Otherwise it could cost up to 100.

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

theses people were african black, get a clue too for whites, look at there features on the reliefs theses are africans features why make them white with braided hair. this is in african. please answer me back why do americans make ancient people in africa look like them, white

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

There was a great range of physical appearances in ancient Egypt, much like there is in modern Egypt as the general physical characteristics have not changed all that greatly - there have been new population groups introduced, but their influence has been fairly small and gradual and new population groups have been moving through Egypt since humans first arrived there.

The ancient Egyptians were African, as Egypt is in Africa. "African" is frequently conflated with "black" especially in the US and Europe, despite the vast range of physical appearance, including skin tones and facial features among various indigenous African groups. The ancient Egyptians had a variety of skin tones, roughly similar to those seen in Egypt today - that is, ranging from relatively light skinned/tan to very dark skinned, with hair that is straight, curly or very curly, noses that range in shape and eyes that are brown, blue, grey, or green. This is a standard phenotype for most North Africans.

It might be worth noting that many modern Egytians are offended if called "black" - yet another complicated aspect of racial and ethnic categories and the way they shift meanings from context to context.

There was population movement into Egypt despite it's relative isolation from both futher south in Africa and from western Asia that contributed in a slight way to the external physical characteristics of the general population.

Ancient Egyptian art had certain conventions for depicting Egyptians as well as other population groups. Egyptian males are typically shown as red or reddish brown, women in a yellowish shade, Nubians as black, and Asiatics as yellow. This may not have always reflected the reality of individual appearance as most of these depictions were not intended as portraits.

It's important to realize that most scholars in history and anthropology no longer consider race to be a reality in a genetic sense. Rather, we consider race to be a cultural construction and the definintions of race vary from culture to culture and context to context.

In the various reenactments of historic events in ancient Egypt that are shown in recent documentaries the majority of the actors are Egyptian. I've seen some these being filmed while I was in the field - Egyptian actors are less expensive to hire and filming costs are cut down by filming on-site in Egypt.

The majority of Egyptologists, anthropologists and historians will tell you that despite the Arab Conquest, modern Egyptians don't look all that different from ancient Egyptians, especially outside Cairo. It's important to note that most of the Arabs and other Muslims who migrated into Egypt following the conquest tended (with exceptions, of course) to reside primarily around Cairo and to remain fairly exclusive in their marriage habits.

The confusion comes in because of the history of the discipline of Egyptology and history, the history of European colonialism, and the history of the rise of Afrocentrism.

In the early days of Egyptology western thought was that white Europeans were superior to all other "races" and therefore a civilization like Egypt could not have arisen out of a black African "race." This lead to theories such as the "Dynastic Race" - an idea that the Egyptian state arose after the invasion of a separate race of people from Western Asia who subjugated the native Egyptians and became the ruling class, though they eventually intermarried with the "natives". This also nicely explained the features of Egyptians as shown in various ancient depictions which weren't stereotypically "black" but weren't stereotypically "white European" either.

This theory is no longer popularly accepted - nor should it be.

In reaction to this and with the rise of the black pride movement, the civil rights movement and other social/political movements, certain members of the black community, especially in the US, have argued that the Egyptians were "black" which they usually define, at least in the US as looking like the majority of black Americans. In some of its most extreme forms, this movement has suggested that Europeans deliberately changed or defaced monuments to hide the "African" features of ancient Egyptians (which is totally ridiculous) and they tend to point to evidence of Egyptian "blackness" that is not really valid within the broader scholarly understanding of ancient Egypt.

The big problem with this movement and the claiming of Egypt by black pride movements is that it ignores the points of origin of most African Americans - slaves were derived primarily from sub-Saharan Africa, some distance from Egypt and in areas the had little or no contact with ancient Egypt. It also tends to treat Africa as though it is one huge cultural unit, disregarding the vast amount of diversity and individuality of various African cultures. It also tends to shortchange and direct attention away from other amazing African cultures, such as the cultural group associated with the amazing constructions at Great Zimbabwe.

Overall, the primarly problem with the Afrocentrism movement is that it tends not to meet the rigorous requirements of modern scholastic practice and that those who argue against their theories are accused of being racist, white supremacists, or of being part of a vast conspiracy to claim Egypt as a white culture. In other words, the proponents of Afrocentrism rely on ad hominem personal attacks on those they disagree with, rather than addressing their arguments.

As a scholar, I don't think the Egyptians were white, but I don't think that they were "black" in the common usage either - I think that they were Egyptian. I think, based on evidence from their own texts, artistic representations, etc., that they defined themselves as "Egyptian" in opposition to other groups. I don't think that you can apply modern categories with their own baggage to the past and I don't think that it serves any worthwhile purpose to "claim" an ancient cultural group as one's own without a wealth of evidence. I study ancient Egypt because I find it interesting, not because I feel that I need to support a modern social-political ideology and to be frank, at times I get a little tired of the ongoing arguing because I think that it distracts from the really interesting parts of Egyptian culture and because I don't think it should matter what box on a census form an ancient Egyptian would check. I say again, they were Egyptian - and that's all that should matter.

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

They were actually semites.

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

People in Egypt now is a mix of many cultures, none of them was black

1- ancient Egyptians were Semitic, direct descendants of Sam, like all the whites.

2- Greek occupation (whites)

3- Roman Occupation (whites)

4- Arab ruling (middle eastern, not black)

5- Othmanic occupation (Turks are not other than whites)

6- French and then English occupation (whites)

that ended in 1954

and believe it or not 35% of Egyptians are whites, 55% middle eastern and the rest are African not blacks but brownish.

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

yea, that's right they r not white but not black they have olive skin black hair %26amp;eyes their feature was not like black it tend to be like europien more .so they r not white or black

Why do travel and discover channel lies about the race of ancient egypt whites with braids in hair ?

Egyptians are NOT Semitic, they are Hamitic in majority. This is a great misconception.

The Egyptians are racially classified as Caucassians even those dark skinned among them.

North Africans and since ancient times have "whitish" complexion, so you cannot say in majority Egyptians were black in color. Their complexion is typical for Mediterranean people.

So Travel and Discover Channel did not lie unless they showed blondes.

Waves...? help.?

k, i'm half black, half white, so my hair's naturally curly, but its soft curls, (not tight ones usually associated with african americans), i get my hair relaxed, and at the moment, its cut a lil under my shoulder, and flat ironed straight, and when i say that i mean its the equivalent of straight hair on majority white people, because without the flat iron, and with only a blow dry, still a poof ball o.O

anywaysssssssssssss

i wanted to know how to get cute sort of a messy waves ( not crimp, or small waves) and also, any cute hair styles info, would be a great help.

p.s., i like to keep my hair side parted with the hair hanging to the right side of my face.

Waves...? help.?

Will I become bald if....?

I leave in this Suave humectant conditioner I'm using. It's not specifically a leave-in conditioner, but it claims it "moisturizes as well as Nexxus humectant" which I heard could be used as both a regular conditioner and a leave-in. I'm african-american with very thich hair, and I love the way it feels with the moisturizer in it now. Should I wash it out, or will it bring my hair out if I leave it in.

It says to wash out after three minutes. But will it harm my hair if I just leave it in? Thanks!

Will I become bald if....?

It will be ok just do not do it all the tie because it might damage your hair. I have left it in my hair b4.. i do it once every couple f weeks.

Will I become bald if....?

no i do it all the time

Will I become bald if....?

It wont harm your hair, it actually helps your hair keep less frizzy. I do it all the time.

Will I become bald if....?

uhh doubt it

Will I become bald if....?

I very strongly doubt that you would go bald. I left actual conditioner in my hair overnight, and it made it so nice and soft.

Will I become bald if....?

You should follow all the instruction there is a good reason behind it!

Will I become bald if....?

ummm i dont think so i dont think it will harm you if you keep it in but if it says wash out mabey you you should lol its up to u hope i helped

I'm wanting to get my hair braided & want to know what is the best style for african-americ

I want a style that is versatile, won't pull or damage my own hair %26amp; what types of "hair" can be used for the braiding process? Help!

I'm wanting to get my hair braided %26amp; want to know what is the best style for african-american hair?

This depends on how much money you are willing to spend. If you have endless money, go to the best salon that you can find and get real hair.

If you are strapped for money, then go with 'Yankee' hair. If you don't want your hair damaged or pulled, then simply ask the professional to braid it loose enough that it won't fall out, corn rows will be the lease damaging.

Be sure they are using products for the braiding process such as gels, creams, and oils if you need them. Deeply condition before the process and if it is done good, you can leave it in for up to 2 months.

Good luck. :)

I'm wanting to get my hair braided %26amp; want to know what is the best style for african-american hair?

euther corn rows in desingns or micro or box braids

I'm wanting to get my hair braided %26amp; want to know what is the best style for african-american hair?

Well has they always say you get what you pay for. You can get cornrows ,it won't last as long but will cost a little less then micros or medium size braids. Those cost a bit more but will last longer .As far as hair quality, you can use synthetic hair, for the cornrows or human. It 's all in the price and quality difference and how much you can afford same rules for the braids but the human hair looks better and it definitely last longer.

You can get twist and much more go to African braiding shop and you can explore the different style and price options

Good luck

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

I am not sure what flat iron to buy. My daughter says it needs to be set on 35 or higher. I am afraid she will end up burning her hair. I see flat irons from 129 degree C all the way through to over 200 degree C. What should I be looking for?

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

It really shouldn't burn your hair. I'm white and I use one setting lower than the highest on my flat iron. I think you should be safe with it somewhere over the middle setting, in between middle and high. Also, try to find a product that you can put on your hair before applying heat, it will protect it. These can be found in salons.

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

maxi glide from maxibeauty.com

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

Gold n' hot is the brand @ sally's and the hottest setting is fine it will not burn your hair if you are black but if you have thinner hair might want to try 25....All I can say is try the middle temperature (chances are that's not going to get it as straight as you want) then gradually increase to your preference I use 35 (the highest) haven't burned any hair out yet....(well not with a flat iron at least the hot comb that's a different story).

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

get a really hot one....anything less will not complely straiten her hair...aftrcan american hair is very resistant to heat

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

One way to test if the comb is to hot is by touching it to her hair if her hair turns white it is burnt and the comb is too hot, the most important thing is that you use some kind of pressing oil like softee or african pride. You can also try curling wax it prevents the hair from burning it makes it heavy if you use too much but it will also give it a shine! God Bless

What is the best setting to use when flat ironing African American Hair?

the sedu is realyy good but it's 125.00 go to ssedu.com and then click on the floica .com they have alot of flat irons and hair stuff

Do you know of any great products for styling natural African American hair?

I usually twist my hair. I need something that has a lot of moisture in it, but is gentle because I have extra-sensitive skin/scalp. I am using Miss Jessie's baby buttercream right now but it is irritating my skin. any suggestions?

thanks!

Do you know of any great products for styling natural African American hair?

Look for products that state exactly that, moisturizing. My daughter's hair is curly, her father is from Belize, and his hair is thick and curly. She has his hair, but spongy like mine. Ironically I find that the WHITE products work better in softening her hair and making the curls form nicely. When I use products too heavy, it make it frizzy and look like an afro. I use Pantene Shampoo for both her hair and mine, and I notice that Pantene works well in my hair also. Jojoba Oil is a good moisturizer. Currenlty I use Suaze gel (just the $1 gel in the grocery store) and it makes both of our hair soft and manageble. My hair is nothing like hers, and it works for me also.

Do you know of any great products for styling natural African American hair?

A friend of my sisters uses Baby Magic Baby lotion on her daughters hair. it keeps it soft and moist as long as you dont use tons to make it greasy. Its extra gentle since its baby lotion and its hypo allergenic.

Wht is the best way to grow hard-to-grow african american hair?

My hair is shoulder length and kind of thin...so I wanted to know is there something out there that can really help..I heard of using Aloe Vera instead of grease..but I don't know..I would like to know more. Thanks

Wht is the best way to grow hard-to-grow african american hair?

I have no idea ask a stylist

Wht is the best way to grow hard-to-grow african american hair?

Wht is the best way to grow hard-to-grow african american hair?

What is a good moisturing shampoo and conditioner for african american hair?

MY HAIR IS VERY DRY AND IS BREAKING OFF.

What is a good moisturing shampoo and conditioner for african american hair?

Try the Garnier Sleek and Shine line...It's a good allover protectant line (you must use all three products) and eliminates the need to "oil" your hair. My friend uses that exclusively and has much better results than most other products and it leaves her hair softer and less oily than some products can.

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

I didn't want to cut all of my permed hair off yet- I want to wait about six months when I grow enough new growth. In the meanwhile, what styles really help? Weaves? Braids? What are your experiences? Lots of details please!

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

You can get your hair braided. It takes a while to get use to it without the chemicals in your hair but you will pull through. I am a perfect example of transtioning. You can check out my hair on http://www.myspace.com/aphillynative and or you and go to http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/default.... where you can get a lot of support and great tips on how to maintain weaves, braids etc. These sisters on this page gave me a lot of support. My hair has grown so much and it's healthy and strong.

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

Braids Braids and braids, and presses and ponytails really work or even a draw string pony tail, but u might want to get like 1-3in of ure permed hair cut off, that would promote faster growing and healthier hair if u happen to have split ends.

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

If you want your hair straight, and you got a perm, then I would just say to iron it or go get a straight perm. =)

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

braids can help you grow new growth much faster and you should wash your hair regularly, try singles than cornrows and change them every 2months otherwise your hair will be uneven, cornrows tend not to last longer

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

I have nothing against braids and weaves, but I will tell you to try your hardest to keep them at a minimum. Especially if you're letting close friends of people who have little to no experience with these styles. Tight braids can cause what is called Traction or Traumatic Alopecia, which is basically due to repeititive traction on the hair by pulling or twisting. I can also be caused by excessive application of chemicals and hot combs. The condition is usually reversed when trauma has stopped.

So be mindful of who ever does your hair (look at their hair or some of their clients also)

Try: Two strand twists with your own hair. After cleaning hair and while hair is still wet, apply styling foam (check ingredients for alcohol, alcohol is bad for hair)and take whatever size section you desire of hair and split apart and twist together. You can let air dry or sit under hooded dryer. Once dried untwist and you have very versatile style you can leave down or pin up with combs, clips, or tie with scarves.

Also grab some hair magz, for style tips that will fit you.

I am an african american woman (I am a licensed cosmetologist and currently work in the hair industry) and my hair is natural and I have been since 2000 and the way I grew my hair out was with braids (no extensions) with my own hair and frequent trims.

Trims are very important to remove dead hair and to eliminate some shedding, because your hair will shed when you are growing it out!

All I can say is find a professional who will have a consultation with you and find out where you are (with your hair) and where you want to go! They will be able to determine the condition of your hair and what your hair can and cannot take. Now don't get me wrong, everyone who owns or works in a salon is not at professional, so you have to be very careful and will become more and more choosey (if not already) about the people you allow to touch your hair.

Once you have found someone you can trust with your hair, stick with 'em!

But all in all, even if you cannot afford to go to the salon, just keep your hair clean (shampooed and conditioned weekly), moisturized, and healthy. And keep in mind that whatever you put in your body comes out! You want healthy and fast growing hair, the put healthy foods in your body, eliminate smoking, drinking and any other bad things that are not good for you.

Happy Hair!

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

Quickweaves...You can still have styles with the relaxed look but your hair will be growing out back to it's natural state. Try weaving styles where your hair is cornrowed or plaited, placed under a breathable stocking cap and weave applied to the stocking cap. I make several styles like this myself with different textures of weaves to change my style every week or two. While my hair is underneath the stocking cap, it is growing, is not disturbed by pulling and tugging of braid extensions and when I take my style out and comb out my plaits, my real hair has grown significantly within those few weeks. I condition my hair really well every time I wash it also. This keeps it healthy. The weave glue in this case does not harm the hair because the weave tracks are not being applied to the scalp but rather to the stocking cap. In a nutshell, the styles are like a wig, you can take them on and off with ease.

What is the best way to transition from permed hair to natural African American hair?

You can go with straw sets, wet sets, braids, cornrows, and weaves. And gradually cut out the relaxer. I would avoid press and curls, etc. they tend not to last as long and heat styling consistently will damage hair.

When I transitioned I did the big chop. But my cousin grew out hair while getting braids and weaves constantly for approx. 2 years before she got her starter locs. So you can go through this process as long as you want. The key is keeping you hair healthy.

None of the salons at our mall have anyone that does Black hair. I'm at my wits end! I need to have my 13yo daughter's hair done. She needs a relaxer, and a cut and style. It'd be her first relaxer.

be careful though because some stylist don't care and will or can burn your daughters hair off

Well, if you are looking for the Beyonce bounce look no further than a good weave job! I checked out www.motionshair.com the other day and it had some pretty good tips as well as different styles based on the shape of your face. Seriously though, you are looking in vain if you are trying to get a look that is not truly theirs(Beyonce).

Never. Hot oil treatmemts make my hair too greasy and limb. To make your hair grow faster, you must message your scalp with a oil, like a Carrot Oil, or OLIVE or something that contains herbs and minerals and vitaimns. I do this twicE weekly, I use Mane 'N Tail Carrot OIL and Olive OIL.

How often do you get hot oil treatments for African American hair?

Every week is fine but if you are thinking it will make your hair grow faster sorry it won't. But you hair should be a lot healthier.

None of them. They all cause dryness and breaking. It's the lye. Even those without lye are damaging to the hair.

When will i fall in love?

i'm going to give u some details about myself...

16

junior

medium long hair

brown eyes

african american

cool person

i'm just so bored with life and the frequent passerbys who never take advantage over the never ending vancancy of my hotel

When will i fall in love?

Well my dear, you will not "find" love till you learn to love yourself. That is, you hook ya stuff up tight, hair, nails, clothes clean and stylish, and just be the best you can~~ya know, like you love yourself.

This will give you confidence, and that is what attracts people in general to you. Don't be surprised if a woman is attracted too!

You are bored because you hold yourself like a HOTEL~~just think about that a moment. People come and go, but few STAY there! You should be thinking of yourself like a MANSION! EVERYBODY WANTS TO STAY THERE FOR GOOD! RIGHT?

I guess you can see what I am trying to say:: Worry more, at 16, about working on you and your personality~~be a loving person. Trust me, you will have stutters in no time! Don't forget to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince! Don't just be on the lookout for someone to love, try to love the one that shows you love. Look at what a man will offer you and not what you are willing to give him to stay, :"I AM IN LOVE"! You go girl! Study this:: If A Man Really Wants You!

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.

If he does not want you, nothing can make him stay.

Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.

Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that is not meant to be.

S l o w e r is better.

Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve; then heck no, you cannot "be friends".

A friend would never mistreat a friend.

Do not settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.

Do not stay because you think, "it will get better".

You will be mad at your self, a year later, for staying when things are not better.

The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

Avoid men who have a bunch of children by a bunch of different women.

He did not marry them when he got them pregnant. Why would he treat you any

differently?

Always have your own set of friends separate from his.

Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up.

Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.

You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.

Do NOT EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job.

Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.

Never let a man define who you are.

Never borrow someone else's man. Oh Lord! If he cheated with you, he will cheat on you.

A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.

All men are NOT dogs.

You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two-way street.

You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about baggage. Deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship.

You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you. A relationship consists of

two WHOLE individuals. Look for someone complimentary, not supplementary.

Dating is fun, even if he does not turn out to be Mr. Right.

Make him miss you sometimes. When a man always knows where you are

and you are always readily available to him, he takes it for granted.

Do not fully commit to a man who does not give you everything that you need. Keep

him in your radar; but get to know others.

When will i fall in love?

When will i fall in love?

i think that you need to stop focusing on love so much. High school is about so much more than that.

what would your mother say if she knew you were on the internet begging for sex?

When will i fall in love?

you'll fall in love when you totally expect it the least.

When will i fall in love?

learn to focus your attention on different stuffs.... your studies perhaps... you're too young for that...

When will i fall in love?

YOU CANT MAKE YOURSELF FALL IN LOVE IT JUST HAPPENDS IM SURE IF YOU MEET NEW FRIENDS OR SOME THING U WILL FIND SOME ONE JUST DONT GO LOOKING FOR THAT LOVE LET IT COME TO YOU U WILL SEE UR TIME WILL COME JUST LIKE IM WAITING MINE AFTER ALL MY LIFE STORY THAT HAPPENED

What is the difference between "Virgin Oil de Coco-Creme" and regular "Virgin Coconut Oil"?

both products have the following benefical effects:

make the hair softer, help prevent hair breakage, helps to condition, add sheen .....most commerical grade coconut oil are made from copa....copa is the dried kernel(meat of the coconut). it can be made by smoke drying, sun drying, kin drying or deprivatives or combination of all three.....copa is unsanitary cause it is dried in the sun in the open air wher it is exposed to insects %26amp; mold...it is rbd(refined,bleached%26amp; deodorized). i am not trying to suggest but let you know about the difference of oil and creams....are you trying to go natural??or r u already natural?? thanks gurl for the 10 points....i hv been a user but never used this yahoo answer but one time now i am hook to ths thing....cause i think i save someone 's life yesterday.......hope ths help gurl....oh by the way no such thing as virgin....they just tell u that to buy products the industry has mislead people on alot of hair products...etc.....

Hair is not a living part of your body...at least the hair we see part of it goes. Why not chop it all off and make a fresh start of it.

Does anyone know a good product to help damaged african american hair???

I am not African-American but I have a hair mask that is great. I have very very curly frizzy hair and this helps mine. Mash up 1 banana, add 3 tablespoons mayonnaise and 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil. Mix well, apply to hair, cover hair with plastic wrap and leave it on from 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo as usual. The potassium and vitamin A in the mask helps restore health and shine to the hair.

Does anyone know a good product to help damaged african american hair???

The best way to treat damaged hair is actually to cut it low %26amp; start again. As I am not aware of how bad the damage is, I will assume it's breaking in various parts, some bits longer than the other. Your hair is trying to tell you that it is over processed and is in need of "feeding". You need to oil your scalp this will feed the hair. Condition your hair every 2 weeks. Using either a deep conditioner %26amp;/or a heated treatment (steaming).

By doing these "little" things, you should see a difference in the next 2 months.

If you are unsure about cutting your hair remember you can disguise it by wearing wigs, weaves, scafves.

Good luck

Does anyone know a good product to help damaged african american hair???

Try to keep it greased, shampoo it once a week, and wrap your hair at night. Also, use t-tree products and Dr. miracle's hair growth formula.

Phytoaxil庐 fortifying intensive care with patented Phytoactive concentrate

How can i get my hair to grow it seems hard for my african american hair to grow?

let me dispel the myth that "our" hair won't grow. i'm living proof that it will. when i stopped using alot of heat and left it alone (with braids then ponytails), i was able to grow my hair from 3-4" to almost waist length in three years.

usually more than anything else, it's what we do to our hair than what we use on it. and your hair IS growing. if it wasn't, you would be bald. if it has remained the same length for a long time, it's just breaking as fast as it grows. mine did this for almost 20 years until i changed some things. contact me if you'd like more advice. i have to know what you're doing to your hair now before i can give any meaningful advice.

happy growing!!

How can i get my hair to grow it seems hard for my african american hair to grow?

Also I stop using heated hair appliances

Stop using chemicals on your hair.

Do not use a hair brush.

Start combing your hair with a wide tooth comb.

Do not use hair sprays or gels on your hair.

Leave the rubber bands out of your hair.

Start wrapping up your hair at night in a silk or satin scarf..

Getting braids?

im going on vacation and i'm getting my hair braided. im african american and i have long hair, thick, and about 4 inches past my shoulder. the thing is when i braid it, i want to get extentions b/c i dont want it to shrival when i get it wet and i want it to still be the same length. i'm having a hard time deciding what type of braids to get and what type of hair i should use. please help.

Getting braids?

I am African American and when I went on vacation I got corn rolls ( thick ones)- that is what I would recommend. My hair is past my shoulders and I was worried about getting braids that would be too tight and make my hair fall out or thin. The ones I got were easy to remove and I didn't have to worry about my hair. I kept them in for a month- some people keep them in longer. You can get whatever style you would like. But, I personally think micro braids are too small and I know from some friends of mine that they are a big pain to get out. Also because they are so small they may pull on your hair more.

Getting braids?

GET MICRO BRAIDS OR TWIST BRAIDS

Getting braids?

The last time I had braids, I got a faux-hawk: it looked like a mowhawk. I had the sides of my head cornrowed, and then she fastened those brades with rubber bands. Then, I had the length of my hair braided in micro brades. The bangs were left untouched. I loved the look because it stayed out of my face, but I still had hair that covered my neck. Then, if you get tired of that looks and want something different, you can take out the micro-brades just from the length of the hair, and you'll still have just the head in cornrows with the faux-hawk unbraded. The look is very edgy and fun, and I would recommend it if you want something different.

Getting braids?

If you want extension you would get very small braids to the scalp and the would sew the pieces all over. You should use human hair if want to last in the water. If done right your hair will be secure under the pieces and you just come the extensions but still condition your hair. it will get dry.

or Freestyle braids aka mircobraids. Make sure you use human hair for these specific type of braids. Depending on how you feel about the dryness of your scalp after time past oil a least twice a week and wash it thoroughly after time in the pool or sweating a lot in your hair. USE HUMAN HAIR. YOU CAN PUT HEAT APPLIANCES ON IT. HUMAN HAIR IS EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH IT.

Getting braids?

use human hair and i would suggest getting some pixies but ask them can they not burn the bottom and braid it straight down like how they do singlsliz twist.

Getting braids?

get braids but use your own hair if your hair is that long girls kill me and wanna hve all this crap in they hair when its long and pretty. use your own youll regret it later put that crapin your hair

Getting braids?

Try cornrows. You can do a few styles with them (bun in the back, swept to the side, curled at the ends, etc.). I just find cornrows the least damaging when it comes to braids and they are not a pain in the butt to take out, especially if this is just a temporary style for vacation purposes.

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

We have recently adopted an newborn African American baby. He has a large amount of hair and it is curly when wet then goes straight and messy when dry. Just wondering if it will change and approximately at what age.

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

I believe if it is going to change, it will begin to do so when he is about 12 months old.

I have a friend who has two little girls who are African American. They got both of them just days after they were born. Both of the little ones had full heads of hair, but it was the really fine, long stuff that babies are often born with. At around 3-4 months, both of them started gradually losing that birth hair, and it was replaced with straight black hair which was curly when wet, but which was a lot more coarse than that with which they were born. At about a year, each of them started gradually losing the super straight hair, and growing hair which is a lot curlier. They are now 5 and 4, and one of them has very loose, relaxed curls, while the other has very kinky, tight curls. One of the challenges for my friend was finding out how to care for their hair correctly. We live in an area where there are not a tremendous amount of African American people, but she was lucky enough to find a hair salon run by an woman from the Carribean who specializes in the care of African American hair, and this woman and all her clients were happy to show my friend the ins and outs of dealing with her little girls' hair.

One of the things they taught her was to be very careful about overwashing. They told her to do a thing called a conditioning wash, which is basically using a good, deep moisturizing conditioner instead of shampoo. It cleans the scalp and hair just like shampoo does, but it does it much more gently. They also told her to never ever wash the babies' hair with super warm water, and to teach them to use cool water when they get older, as hot water strips natural oils. While the girls have a bath every night before bed, she only washes their hair with actual shampoo about once a week. The rest of the time she either just rinses their heads with cool water or does the conditioner cleaning. She also uses a leave in conditioner every day to help protect their hair, and she is very careful when she brushes it to keep it from being damaged by overzealous brushing.

I know my friend was really glad to find the hair salon. They taught her all sorts of things she didn't know about how to care for African American hair and skin. They also taught her how to do cute little braids! If you don't know someone who can help you out with questions, you might consider finding a similar salon in your area. The important thing is to find someone who can teach you about how to care for your son's hair in the best way.

And congratulations on the new baby! All babies are wonderful, but adopted ones are super special gifts, in my opinion :)

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

change to what?

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

when it is dry please put some oil into his hair, afri-amer people need oil in their hair, plus do not wash his hair everyday, just once a week, or when ever absolutely necessary. his hair will change around the age of 11 months, then you wait until he is almost two years old and get him a hair cut.

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

my fiance is african american and he says you should start to tell if it's going to stay curly or just be straight and kinky (knappy) around 2 or 3. his niece is mullato (half black half white) and her hair had soft curles when she was a baby and a young girl but now she is 13 and her hair is super kinky/course but it is straight so it could be even later than toddler age (baby/genetic dependent). Afro-Am hair needs a lot of oil/grease because it is so dry (he says dirt makes their hair grow so the longer you go without washing it the faster it will grow) so i would wash his hair every couple of days since their hair doesn't get greasy and dirty like ours. also, one of his cousins used baby lotion on her baby's hair and it made her hair so soft and kept the curls in like when it was wet (plus the baby smelled so good!). i've tried it on black babies in the nursery and it works so give that a shot. other than that i think you are just going to be surprised like everyone else with their kids hair (you know some start out with platinum blonde hair then go brunette). good luck though and congrats on the new baby!

Who knows when African American Infants Hair changes?

If it changes at all it will be around a year or so... when the "real" hair comes in baby hair usually falls out from them rubbing their head in their crib and that but the "real" stuff should come in around a year or after that if it doesnt change by then its probably not going to.

How to cut a African American womans hair?

I need to know how you cut African American woman's hair into a short hair style. Is there any info, on the internet.

How to cut a African American womans hair?

It's a very detailed, meticulous process and I don't recommend practicing on an actual person. Especially shorter cuts. By black women's hair being coarser than other nationalities, it's much different than cutting white women's hair, latinas, etc. More than likely, you will be using a chemical to straighten the hair because a short cut won't really look good unless the hair is "relaxed". Otherwise, it'll be a mini afro. The internet isn't going to show you how to do it. That's what cosmetology school is for.

I don't know what to tell you but if someone asked you to do it, you'd be better off referring them to a hairstylist who specializes in black hair.

How to cut a African American womans hair?

Just use a clipper b/c it will give you a uniform cut all around. Now it won't be a fancy assymetrical du, but it will be a classic Sherry Belafonte cut.

Just start with the longest setting and move to shorter if you wish. It takes longer that way, but you won't end up with a buzz cut.

How to cut a African American womans hair?

If it's relaxed, it's just like cutting caucasian hair except it won't fall limp in your hands. Just try your best not to lose your guide and be very careful with the clippers and trimmers. If the hair is course, it's a bit more difficult to keep your guide because you're going to have to stretch the hair to make sure it's even. There are videos out there but you will have to pay for them. Good Luck!

How to cut a African American womans hair?

um i really dont know but is the hair is short you have to give them a relaxer if they want one and then wash it and then cut hope this helps

How to cut a African American womans hair?

Maybe you should tell your client that you don't know how to cut her hair. And advise her to find someone who does. That's better than messing up someones hair because you don't know what you're doing.

Please answer why is no one answering!!!?

Good Luck

Does anyone know a good natural haircolor for african-american hair?

I wear my hair natural but am thinking about coloring it. I want to avoid chemicals completely.

Does anyone know a good natural haircolor for african-american hair?

don't damage your hair. Just put a rinse in it. You know those gray bottles you just squirt it all over and comb it in after you wash and condition and then dry it. Keep with dark tones.

Does anyone know a good natural haircolor for african-american hair?

As we all know, African-American hair runs the gamut, it can be fine, straight, curly, frizzy or kinky. In my immediate family alone, hair textures differ greatly. None of us have the same "type" of hair. This article is presented with the idea that African American hair is different, and although products that work well for me, may not work well for you, the basic hair care techniques are the same. African American hair lends itself to all types of styling opportunities. And, let's face it, mah sistahs, we are very trendy when it comes to the ways we wear our hair. Here's a few tips for "caring" your 'do.

The Basics:

The Stuff Grandmomma Knew but Forgot to Tell You

Always BE GENTLE with your hair, particularly if it has been chemically treated.

a) This includes coloring as well as relaxed hair or curly-permed hair. If you have had chemical treatments, then always treat your hair as though it is damaged, even if you don't have split ends.

Always use a wide toothed comb, even for styling

a) Make sure the teeth of the comb are very smooth. Jagged edges on the teeth will "catch" and pull your hair out.

Invest is a good, natural boar bristle brush.

a) Brushing the hair is to help distribute the natural oils from the scalp down the length of the hair. Use a softer brush and more patience when brushing your hair. My favorite brush Mason Pearman, however, Goody makes a decent, natural boar bristle brush as well.

Tie your hair up at night. This prevents your hair from "catching" on the pillow case and breaking off. This also keeps the natural hair oils in your hair and not in the pillowcase. Tying your hair up doesn't have to be grounds for divorce.

a)Buy some pretty, satin scarves to tie your hair up in. Never use cotton scarves. They will draw the moisture from your hair.

b) %26lt;![endif]%26gt;Or, invest in some satin pillowcases. They don't have to be expensive ones, just a satiny type of material that will allow the hair to "glide" while you sleep.

5. Check all of your rollers, pins, clips and other styling aids for smooth edges.

a) Just like with the comb, rough edges will "catch" on the hair and pull your hair out, 2 to 3 strands at a time.

b) Avoid elastic bands that are not covered with a smooth, satiny type of material. All of those others (terrycloth covered, material covered, rubber) catch in the hair and will pull it out.

c) Avoid rollers with "teeth". These sharp edges will pull your hair out. Velcro rollers are a "no-no" for the same reason. Use the smooth, magnetic rollers, but never sleep in them. Your hair will thank you.

6. Use less heat on your hair, especially if it is chemically treated or damaged.

a) Styling heat is probably the biggest enemy of African American hair. Reduce the use of heated appliances as much as possible. If you must "bump your ends" then allow your hair to air dry instead of blow-drying it.

b) Instead of heated appliances, try using wet sets once a week, then, wrap your hair at night. This will prolong your style and reduce the amount of heat used on the hair.

Shampooing and Conditioning

"Take Your Time, Do It Right"

1. Use shampoos that have a low pH, somewhere between a 4 or a 5. Acidic shampoos temporarily close the cuticle of the hair (works like sucking on a lemon). If the pH of the shampoo is not located on the bottle, pH-testing papers are available at most drugstores and pharmacies for a nominal cost. Or, use neutralizing shampoos, the "post relaxer" type. These have a low pH because they are used to neutralize the alkaline effects of a relaxer.

2. Use conditioners to detangle and temporarily smooth the hair cuticle. Don't leave a conditioner on longer that is suggested by the manufacturer's instruction. You don't get "more benefit" from leaving it on longer but you may break off more hair. Instant conditioners will help to detangle hair and temporarily coat the hair with protein. Leave on one to three minutes. These are better for natural hair. Deep conditioners are better for chemically treated hair. These usually stay on for 20-30 minutes. Use a heating cap, set on low or medium heat, to help the conditioner temporarily replace the keratin lost through hair damage.

3. While shampooing and conditioning, try not to tangle the hair excessively, I have always found that washing my hair in sections helps to keep the tangles and the frustrations down.

4. Be Patient. Clear all tangles and snarls with the fingers first, then, starting from the bottom, using your wide toothed comb, complete the detangling process. Using an oil lotion at this stage, while the hair is still damp will help keep the hair moisturized and help ease out the tangles.

5. Rinse your hair twice as long as it took to wash it. Shampoo residue will dry your hair and break it off. Focus conditioning on the ends. They are the oldest part of the hair, and more prone to damage.

6. Stay away from Balsam in conditioner. It leaves a clear film on the hair that is excessively drying to African American hair.

Styling

"Fried, Dyed, and Laid to the Side"

As I've said before, African Americans are very trendy and hairstyles change constantly depending on what's in vogue. Here is some basic information on African American styling aids.

Hair Dressings: There are quite a few different types of hairdressings ranging from the gel hairdressings to the heavier pomades. Essentially, hairdressings are lubricants that help the hair not to "catch" on itself or the comb/brush helping to become more "manageable." Most hairdressing will also add varying degrees of shine as well as "control".

Gel Hairdressing: Designed to add shine and help "control" the hair. Example: Let's Jam Power Shine

Cream Hairdressing: Designed to moisturize and add shine, however, they do not provide as much control as the gels. Example: Vitapointe,

Oil Lotions: Heavier weight than cream hairdressing. Add more "control" as well as shine and moisture. Example: Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizer

Pomades: Heavy-duty lubrication, shine and control. There are generally two types, oil based and the water-soluble type. Examples: Dax Hair Pomade (oil type) Ouidad's Clear Control (water-soluble type)

Other Hairdressing: This group includes many of the old standbys like VO5 and Ultra Sheen. These products are great for lubrication, in particular, the ends of the hair. However, too much will cause the hair to look "greasy".

Oil Sheen Sprays:Add extra shine to styled hair.Great for finishing. Examples:Motions Oil Sheen Spray

Some Final Notes

African American hair is extremely versatile and this article does not by any means go over every aspect of African American hair care. However, here are some final tips to keep in mind.

1. Stay away from alcohol based products; look for either Alcohol or SD Alcohol on the label. Then leave it on the shelf. Alcohol is extremely drying to African American hair.

2. Find a good stylist, someone you can trust. Finding a good stylist is an article in itself, so, here are some quick tips:

璺?Ask about their most recent training: a good stylist invests in continuing education

璺?If they downgrade your last stylist, leave the premises: This shows poor professionalism. You will pay for this later with bad sets and late appointments.

璺?Check the products they are using, a good hairstylist will invest in good quality products to use on your hair.

璺?Remember it's your hair. You must keep in control of the situation. Be courteous, but firm. Don't allow a stylist to perform a service you didn't ask for or tell you that a service "can't be done" on your type of hair. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

3. Never rush when doing your hair. Always be patient and GENTLE. If you don't have the time to wash your hair and properly, condition, detangle and style it, don't do it. %26gt;Wait until you do have the time.

4. Never relax and color your own hair, have a professional do it. Yes, I know we have all done this, but we shouldn't. Here's why. For the most part, home relaxer kits contain a lot of calcium, (go ahead and check, I'll wait) which will build up on the hair and make it less manageable. So, at worst, go to a Beauty Supply store and buy professional products and have someone else perform these services. At best, go to your stylist and have them done professionally. You want to keep your hair on your head, not in your hands.

African American hair is extremely versatile, however, it needs to be treated with gently respect at all times. This is your crowning glory, your mane and an expression of your individuality. Take time to take care of your hair and your hair will take care of the rest. Why are people so amazed by my features?

Often people like to ask me because of my features what race am I? My father is an African-American man of Bahamian decent and my mother is full blood Cherokee native American. My hair is curly but when I take a shower it falls down and I have bangs. A few people have actually thought that I was Indian. also during the winter months my skin tone lightens up alot. Are there others like me?

Why are people so amazed by my features?

my hair is like that too. so is my mom's and my sister's omg! (her hair is to her like butt, lol.)

When my hair is wet, it's like straight curly. (it's really, really nice.)

People sometimes mistake me for being Dominican, a lot. lol.

Genetics my dear, genetics.

Both of my parents are black, but in my mom's side, we have Blackfoot Native American from my great-great grandmother. and Cherokee from my father's side, i think.

(a lot of black people are mixed with Cherokee anyway.)

but i'm not lightskinned, lol. Nor am i dark skinned. (i consider myself inbetween, brown-skinned. tee hee hee!)

my features are cool too =

i have uh,,,, big, curvylike, roundish eyes, um smallish-mediumish lips. uh a not-big nose, lol? (lol. ahahaha.) it's average, i dunno.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

im pretty sure there are!

Why are people so amazed by my features?

LOL, IDK but some people on here told me I look ARAB. I'm Colombian though.....

Why are people so amazed by my features?

no im not like you but a lot of people think i am light skinned mexican i have dark hair but hazel eyes

Why are people so amazed by my features?

Probally not as much, they are interested in you that's good =).

Why are people so amazed by my features?

Sorry, can't tell by your avatar and a brief description.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

yea, me LOL!!! I'm not African-American though, I'm hispanic. I have curly hiar, and my skin tone goes light during the winter too!

Why are people so amazed by my features?

*** w96 11/1 p. 32 閳ユ凡e All Belong to the Same Family閳?***

The bougainvillea produces red, pink, and sometimes white flowers. Yet, they all belong to the same family. It is the same with humans. Although we may be of different races, skin color, or ethnic background, we all belong to the same family, the family of mankind.閳?br>Why are people so amazed by my features?

so what? i dont seem amazed by u..u seem like ur are arrogant

Why are people so amazed by my features?

Well I've been mistaken for a black arab, but that is still black so it makes no difference to me. Many people think my mother is Native American, SHE IS NOT. Just because someone is lighter and don't have REALLY curly hair doesn't mean you aren't black YOU ARE STILL BLACK!!!

Why are people so amazed by my features?

People tend to think I'm Indian, as in Southern Indian due to my coloring and my nose. I'm actually a mixed Black Latina with no Indian in me what-so-ever.

My Blasian-looking mom doesn't help with the "What are you?!" department.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

Hell yes lol. I'm just like you except a girl.

My mother is Trinidadian (an Island) her grandparents are from India and my dad is Russian (white)

Because of my naturally tanned skin, I've been called Israeli, Native American, and Indian.

my skin also lightens up in the winter and i become more white looking, i tan super easily though and my hair goes from dark brown to light brown depending on how sunny it is.

So yeah, we're pretty cool unique people lol.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

I am not amazed by you. I am repulsed. Beautiful people don't need to brag about their features to random people on the internet.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

I'm truly amazed! How I wish I were you, instead of a Mel Gibson look-alike.

Why are people so amazed by my features?

Genetics are pretty amazing. When your parents are different races there are a multitude of possibilities. My parents are both light skin African Americans (with French, African American and Spanish ancestry). I am light olive. I tan in the summer and fade every winter. My hair is dark brown and curly. People can never tell "what I am". I have been asked if I am Puerto Rican (or other hispanic), East Indian, Filipino and Samoan!

At some point in the future, I think that the concept of race will disappear.

Microbraids???

I am really interested in microbraids. However I noticed that some people's braids look really thin. I have a good grade of hair (I am African American but 1/4 Cherokee Indian). My hair is straight but thin. I really want my braids to look full. (I like big hair so I usually wear tracks.) Would it be possible to achieve full hair with the braids? I want to use a curly human hair. Also, what is the maintenance and upkeep?I had braids when my hair was thicker a couple of years ago..and they got nappy and frizzy at the top so I took them down after a month. I dont want to spend $200 for only one month. Please help! Lol thanks.

Microbraids???

You lost me at "good grade of hair".

Microbraids???

well if you don't like thin braids, try looking for someone who does thicker micros. also, if your hair is not short (around shoulder length, like mine) go for kinky-twists. micros are more for people who have shorter hair.

if you are good at keeping up your tracks you can also keep your micros for a long time. around 2-4 months is the limit. and if you decide to keep them in longer than that, just get sections all around the hairline re-done and keep them in a ponytail for another month.

if you search hard, you can find someone who can do them for around $160-$170 or maybe even lower. i know a girl who can do kinky twists for $100, but it all depends on where you live.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Heres the problem. My hair is permed and a couple of years before I got my hair permed it was natural. My hair was naturally curly like a mixed persons hair but Im African American. How long will it take to get my natural hair back from not getting anymore perms? My Hair is very thick and right at the top of my back length.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

I think you should go to a beauty salon. They can help you out. Dont just go to the 2-booth salon in the hood. Go to a Good one. Dont take chances with your hair.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

When did you perm it? I always heard that if you put conditioner in it and let it set for a while that it will take some of it out, but I have never did a perm. I just read or heard it somewhere.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Unless you go to a salon to have the perm straightened out or at least to the level of curl you naturally had, you can't do anything but let it grow out.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

The average length of growth is 1/2 inch/month.....6 inches/year! So, from your description, your hair should be back to its original beauty in about 2 to 2 1/2 years.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Basically you will have to grow out the relaxed part. When you relax/perm you hair you chemically break down the bonds in you hair. The part that was permed will never be curly in the same way again. The new growth will be pretty close to normal, but even that may be a bit confused for a while.

So it will depend on how fast your hair grows. The sooner you cut off the relaxed part (yes I know, it's pretty hard to do) the faster your hair will get back to natural.

PLEASE HELP? PLEaSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

shave ure head and give ure hair to the neady!!!!!!!!god will forgive u and make ure hair curly!!!!!!!it will grow back somday if ure lucky and nice!!!!!!

What's the best way to flat iron natural african american hair?

I've been wearing my hair naturally, it's very strong and healthy. Not brittle and dry. I want to know how to flat iron my hair without it being weighed down by grease or wax.

What's the best way to flat iron natural african american hair?

You definitely want to use a heat protectant to keep your hair strong and healthy. You can also use a creme press in addiction to the heat protectant to help straighten and moisturize the hair. After washing, blow dry your hair with the comb attachment. Then take your flat iron and straighten in small sections. And I'd definitely opt for a flat iron with ceramic plats. I have one that I bought at Sally's for under $25 and it's nevery led me astray. You can also get an electrical hot comb at beauty supply stores. My preference was for the hot comb, but YMMV.

What's the best way to flat iron natural african american hair?

just flat iron it like regular...and when you straighten it you need to use a parting comb...and put it rght below the straighter when you do...sry..I really dont know who to explain it

What's the best way to flat iron natural african american hair?

Get a ceramic flat iron :

First wash your air and put them in rollers, roller set ur hair to get a more bouncy look. Dont put in setting lotion because it will make it hard.

Then dry ur hair underneath a hair dryer not a blow dryer.

Then take the rollers out and use the ceramic flat iron and flatten it and use grease since u have natural hair

yes you can use it - warm it a bit and massage in till all your hair is oily. leave in awhile and shampoo out with a gentle shampoo.

Yes, you can use any oil. Jojoba, safflower, jasmine, coconut, olive, and carrot, tea tree, peppermint. I use the extra virgin olive oil (that people cook with) along with setting lotion (Lotta body) so that when it dries it is soft and shiny.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

I am trying to get my hair VERY STRAIGHT but the regular perms for us are not working. I wanted to know if anyone had tried something else.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

Buy Revlon Realistic or Hawaiian Silky Relaxer. It could be the smoothing process, that causes your hair not to become straight. When applying the relaxer to your hair, part it, apply the relaxer over and under each part, then apply the rest to the whole head and smoothing it with both hands. Keep smoothing, until the time allowed.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

no you vannot it is different and will damage your hair

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

NO!!! It will turn you into a Kneegrow.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

HELL no,.unless you want to be sued for making somebody bald.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

No, you will damage your hair. African-American products cannot be used on Caucasian hair, and vice versa. If you see someone who has hair like you want, ask her where she gets her hair done. Then go to the same salon.

Can you use a perm for Caucasians on African American hair?

No the perms are very different

You can do like me and have natural hair that is straightened with the flat iron.

Currently i have long hair and have been learning alot so...

i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) so can show you how to take care of hair without a relaxer. These are the basics to having good healthy hair.

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare's shampoo is good.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment (before shampooing )atleast once or twicea month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great. ( I have also been hearing about protein treatments once a month which is beneficial to hair..since it made of protein, however i need to do more research about the technique and products to use)

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils grapeseed oil ( use it for hair it deflects heat so it is good for flat iron users like us)

jojoba oil(i use this for my scalp), extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.I also use Aveda's Brilliant ( the name of the brand) emollient for my ends.

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda. When flat ironing your hair do not let the iron stay on your hair for too long, just 1-2 quick swipes.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard that Mizani and Affirm are the best relaxers) don't continue to relaxer all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers as long as possible.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat ironing (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind. If you have any more questions just email me.
