I need help with my hair I am trying to go natural. I have African American Hair.?

I am trying to grow my hair natural I am in the 1st stage trying to let the relaxer grow out of my hair. However I can't do anything with my hair I can barley comb or brush it. I really want to go natural but I need some help is their something I can buy without chemicals that will make my hair more manageable.

11 years now and when it was growing out, I simply went to the hair dresser 1-2xs a month and got a conditoner and my roots were pressed out with a flat iron. I also had to trim my hair about every 4-5 weeks. I could never get a good sense of what my hair texture would actually be until my relaxer was completly gone. When it was, I had tight curls that were cute and droopy when wet, but hard and tangled when dry. It took me YEARS of trial and error before I could find a product that didn't make my hair greasy as hell and that product was miss jessies curly pudding. I use this along with the buttercream and I love the effect. The buttercream, used lighltly, is a great moisturizer. Since shingling with this product ( defined on the website) takes a long damn time and the products are expensive I don't do this too often. During the summer months I may do this every so often or I just slick my hair back into a neat bun using isoplus yellow gel. During the fall and winter I normally straighten my hair with my sedu flat iron ( www.folica.com). This is the world's best flat iron. I even used it when I had a weave for a bit. Natural hair is ALOT of work, but I don't regret it. I can do almost anything with my hair, but it does get in the way of doing things outdoors or exercising. So if your hair is not the texture that you are ok just letting be, or cannot be slicked back into a bun or ponytail, it may not be for you. It all depends on your life style and how much time you have to devote to your hair.

it will just be easier if you used a relaxer. Or use a RUSK(this works really well...ask someone in a salon if they know more info)

Use a hot comb or flat iron.

its better if you just leave the natural thing alone and keep the perm.

When going natural your hair is easy to damage so use lots of conditioner. if you want to get rid of the relaxer faster do a vinegar rinse, this will strip out the relaxer you'll have to do it a couple of times, i'm not sure what you mean by no chems but you should get some lusters Pink oil Moisturizer which can be used every day. also pick up a copy of Hype Hair they have styles and products that work for any hair type

What texture is your hair? Mine is basically an afro if I don't use a relaxer. No offense but I just can't imagine ever wearing that style.

Why do you want to go natural? I got my hair to grow long by wearing weaves for about 5 months. My hair is the longest it's ever been in my life. I'm anxious to go back to the weaves but it's summer now %26amp; I don't want to wear them that bad. Even with the weaves the weave hair would get matted up %26amp; look crazy but I didn't care. I'd just gather it together %26amp; put it in a bun.

I don't understand why you're trying to find something to do with your hair when you're going for the fro look right? Enjoy the fro or break out the hot comb %26amp; relaxer.

The Best thing would be for you to keep wearing the wigs. I would have suggested to keep wearing weave, but u said it was breaking off your hair. so keep wearing the wigs, and make sure your hair is always moist and soft to make it more manageable.use hair oil and grease your scalp. and then once your natural hair grows long enough for you to put in a ponytail, you can cut off the relaxed ends, and show off your gorgeous hair =]

hope it helps

Initially when I went natural, people thought I was crazy. Now, I simply love it, not to mention it is teaching my daughters how to love their natural hair as well. Anyway, I would check out this website that helped me tremendously nappturality.com. It has a wealth of information about going natural. My hair is much longer and healthier; however, it does take a while to get used to. I just chopped my at the time shoulder length hair off into a little afro because your hair is "confused" (if that makes sense) by the two different textures. Sorry, there isn't a magic solution, it just takes time and PATIENCE . . . but, be sure to check out that website it is wonderful!
