Is there any danger to a Caucasian using African-American hair products?

Not the hair relaxers, but all the other products like the oil sheens and the hair lotions and such.

yes it will mess up ur hair

Nope. They're oilier, and may break you out. But it won't make your hair fall out or anything. I used to use the pink lotion stuff on my hair when it was really dry.

Is there any danger to a Caucasian using African-American hair products?

Not really because using black hair care products will probably make ur hair look like it has more volume.

Absolutely! You might break out in hip hop at any moment.

Of course there is no danger. They Afro-American hair products might not provide the greatest results, but that would depend on your hair type. But there is no 'danger' to using them.

When my goddaughter's sister corn row braids my hair, she uses product meant for black hair on my hair. I've never seen any damage. The only thing I notice is that I need to like soak my head or go swimming or something to get it all out or I'm "frizzle head" for like a week or so.

ok, plz ignore any previous statement on listed under this question. every hair product will effect a different person in a different way. i for example, can't use anything by herbal essences. it make me break out, and makes my scalp really dry. however, my best friend who is also caucasian, and has the same skin and hair type, uses nothing but herbal essences with no problem. on top of which, as long as you're not putting globs of the stuff right against your roots, it shouldn't make a huge impact. just don't overdue it, and try to keep it away from your skin. i'd say, use it for a couple days, and watch for any problems. if there are none, go for it!

The main difference is that "black" hair products are made for very dry, thick hair. If your hair is not thick or dry it will be weighed down and appear oily if you use some of these products. Others, like bump spray, I have used on my husband, who is as anglo as you can possibly get, work great for anyone.

Most of these people are crazy! It wont ruin your hair. Obviously, black people's hair is different- drier etc but some white people have hair that is just as dry.

Try the product once and if its too much then just wash it out and dont use it again. Get a fairly cheap small bottle and just see.

People in America are crazy over the black/ white issue! Lots of my white friends use Conditioner and sheen for black hair and its not an issue. Im mixed race Indo-Caribbean/White and I use conditioner for afro hair as I have thick hair. Its no biggie!

Is there any danger to a Caucasian using African-American hair products?

No, I'm African-American and I use products for many different types of hair. I use products made by Garnier Fructise just as much as I use products made by Cantu. Many of them contain the same ingredients, and that is really the key to using hair product. Knowning your ingredients is keys. There are just as many "bad" ingredients in some "white" hair products as there are "black" hair products. Any product that contains Mineral Oil or Petrolatum, especially in the products you want to use, you would not want to put on your hair. They coat and mask the scalp and hair, causing buildup and lack of sunlight entering the scalp. I would suggest doing extensive research on what ingredients are good for hair and which ones aren't. That way you know which products to use and which ones not to.

There is absolutely no danger in using these products, as long as they are not hair relaxers. The chemicals in these products (relaxers)are very strong due to the texture of the Afro American hair. So go right ahead and use the oils/lotions etc. they can be used by everyone!!!! I do use them %26amp;/they do give a nice shine and maintain your hair looking vibrant.!!!!!
