Questions About Natural African American Hair.?

I recently got all of my hair cut really low. You know to get rid of the relaxed portions. So, my question.. why does it not look like afro textured hair. It looks wavy. It makes me think that all of the relaxer was not removed, but it is cut so low, that I know that is has to all be gone. So, what's going and what should look forward to in the coming months as far as texture, and ability to care for it.

First of all, props to you for going natural. Wish more ladies felt comfortable enough to do this. Not that a relaxer is wrong, but it閳ユ獨 nice that you are happy with your natural hair. I went thru this process of going natural about 7 years ago. Just a few tips: Keep hair well moisturized (regular oil treatments and don閳ユ獩 shampoo too often). But stay away from products with mineral oil or petroleum. Shea butter works wonders. Get regular trims. Steer clear of other harsh chemicals like hair coloring. (Use henna instead). And if you can, sleep with a silk scarf of or a silk pillowcase. Cotton breaks the hair. Good luck.

well this depends on how much new growth you had. maybe you had an inch of new growth and left 2 inches of relaxed hair on the ends. just leave your hair for now and let it grow for about a month and cut the rest of the relaxed portions off. im thinking of doing that to my hair too but its long and I'm afraid to cut if off! I wish I never got it relaxed :( natural hair is so much more beautiful.
