Can I grow a affro and how if so?

Im not african american, Im white my hair is somewhat curly but nowhere near nappy, heres a example of the curlyness of my hair

Mine is a bit more curly then matthew mcconaughey, my hair is grown out I would say 2months longer then his in this picture, so is it possible to use some products/ certain comb/ braid my hair/ and get a perm to grow a affro that looks like this.

Obviously it will take me along time 2 get that size but is it possible if I do everything I can.
